If someone had told me in my early twenties that I’d make a career as a poet, I'm not sure that I'd have believed them.

On the one hand, it sounds rather ridiculous and fanciful, yet on the other, I had always believed that I was going to be a writer.

In January 2017, after a lot of encouragement from my now wife, I took to the streets of Melbourne with a typewriter and a sign reading:

"Choose Your Subject, Pick Your Price, Get a Poem"

Funnily enough, it turns out they were the only two things I needed to launch my career as a writer!

Since then, I've penned thousands of personalized poems on all sorts of subjects, ranging from the bizarre to the heartfelt, creating unexpected moments which have led to opportunities beyond even my wildest dreams (and I'm a dreamer!).

I've appeared on national radio, performed at weddings, and over a four-year period, I created and ran a poetry and art subscription service with global reach!

Sometimes—just like all of us—I huff and puff about not being exactly where I want to be in life...

And then I remember the kid in his early twenties who thought it was too late to make any positive changes in his life.

And then he did it, with nothing but a sign and a typewriter.

It doesn't take much to spark a dream to life, and I hope that through my words, I can inspire others to ignite theirs!
